STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE

HOME INVASIONS/ SENIOR CITIZEN ALERT

On Tuesday 1/24/06 at approximately 8:45 p.m. a subject knocked at the door of an elderly resident of the Maple Court Apartments in Danielson, CT. As the elderly persons opened the door the subject pushed his way into the apartment. The subject demanded money from the victim and disabled the telephone. The victims were told not to contact the police. The subject fled from the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. This subject was described as a white male 5’8” to 5’9” tall dressed in dark clothing and wearing a ski mask. The victim was not injured.

On Thursday 1/26/06 at approximately 6:30 p.m. an elderly person was confronted after two subjects wearing ski masks unlawfully entered the victim’s apartment in the complex known as the Pineview Courts Apartments at 500 Riverside Dr. Thompson, CT. One subject was armed with a knife, disabled the telephone and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim. The victim was instructed not to call the police. This victim was not injured. Suspect #1 was described as a male approximately 6’tall medium build Suspect #2 was approximately 5’8” tall medium build wearing a flannel type shirt. Both were wearing dark ski masks.

Both incidents are under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Eastern District major Crime Squad Detectives at Troop-D Danielson. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact State Police at (860) 779-4900.

State Police Troopers Troop-D Danielson have increased patrols in areas that contain elderly housing developments. All residents and visitors are asked to be observant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.

State Police remind all elderly to be alert to any suspicious activity, persons, or cars in their housing complex. Anything that is observed to be out of the ordinary should be reported to the police. All doors and windows should be kept locked. LOOK THRU YOUR PEEP HOLE; DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHO IT IS.  KEEP ENTRANCES TO YOUR APARTMENT WELL LIGHTED. REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY SHOULD IMMEDIATELY BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE.
