Connecticut State Police K9 Unit to Receive Donation From Bolton Schools

10-21-05

On Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at 1:45 p.m., students, teachers and administrators of the Elementary and High Schools in Bolton, Connecticut will be presenting donated money to the CT State Police Canine Unit.  This presentation will take place at the Bolton Center School located on 108 Notch Rd., in Bolton.  There will be two, back-to-back, student assemblies at the school where an official presentation of the funds will be made to members of the canine unit.

Through fundraising efforts headed by Jennifer Harvey, who is an active member of the Bolton Community and proud parent of a Bolton student, money was raised that will be used to purchase training equipment for the canine program.  While these training items are necessary to effectively train our canines, they also prove to be very costly.  Mrs. Harvey and the students of the Bolton Schools held “Hat Days” to raise these funds, during which students donated $1.00 to be allowed to wear a hat or ball cap to school for the day.  These school officials, teachers and students are to be commended on their participation in this successful event!

Sgt. Todd Lynch, members of the K9 Unit, and their canine partners will be receiving this generous donation.  Also in attendance will be Lt. Fusaro, Commanding Officer of the Troop K Barracks in Colchester, which covers the town of Bolton.

***All media welcome to attend; please check in with the school office upon arrival.
