Overview

DEMHS administers two grant programs to support nonprofit organizations in security infrastructure improvements and enhancements. One program is a state-funded program, funded as appropriated by the Connecticut Bond Commission. The other program is an annual federal program, funded by the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA).

Both programs are administered in the new DEMHS Grants Management System, EM Grants. You may visit and request access to the system by going to emgrants.despp.ct.gov. Below is general information about both programs. Please review each program's page to learn more specifics. 

Connecticut Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CT-NSGP)

The State of Connecticut Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CT-NSGP) is a state funded competitive grant program that provides reimbursement for expenses that a nonprofit organization has incurred for security infrastructure improvements. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) organizations that are at heightened risk of being the target of a terrorist attack, hate crime, or violent act. Applications will be ranked and awarded based on the demonstrated need for security improvements.

Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP-S)

The Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP-S) is a competitive federal grant program. Eligible applicants are 501(c) (3) organizations that are at heightened risk of being the target of a terrorist attack.
