Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program
The Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP-S) provides funding for target hardening and other security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack.
- The Federal program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). To learn more about the program, please visit and review federal resources and guidance to prepare yourself before the next application round.
- The intent is to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts. It is also designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, as well as state and local government agencies.
The funding available to Connecticut is allocated by the NSGP-S program and varies by Federal Fiscal year (FFY) based on a state allocation that is influenced by Congressional Funding and DHS/FEMA’s Risk Profile for the State. Nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for funding based on FEMA’s guidance issued in each Notice of Funding Opportunity.
