Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

Connecticut Wildlife Magazine

The official magazine of the DEEP Bureau of Natural Resources

March 2024 - Attention Current Subscribers to Connecticut Wildlife: Due to the retirement of some key magazine staff in 2022 and a lengthy time period to hire new staff, we got behind on the production of the magazine. An issue was mailed in February 2024, and more issues will be printed and mailed in the near future. While we take the time to catch up on production and also assess the future course of the magazine, we will not be taking any new or renewal orders. For those of you whose subscription has expired since the Nov/Dec 2022 issue, you can view the most recent issue online using the link below. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we get back on track. You can send any questions or concerns to deep.ctwildlife@ct.gov.
