Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Construction Project

New Bathroom Building Construction

This project was completed in 2018.

Work was initiated in the summer of 2017 on the construction of a completely new bathroom facility at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth.  After design work was completed and a site was selected, the location was cleared of vegetation and graded.  The foundation footings were poured and have dried.  Work on this project was completed in 2018.

Oak Lodge Renovation

Renovations has been completed on the Oak Lodge constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the mid-1930s at what was then Camp Roosevelt, the state’s first CCC camp.

Renovations, literally from the ground up, included reinforcing and replacing areas of the foundation and sills as needed, reframing and strengthening walls, replacing and/or repairing and repainting windows, and reroofing the 80 plus year old structure.
