Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. Free, guided tours of the residence are offered the 2nd and 4th weekends of the month, June through September, and the second weekend of October. Reservations are not required. On open weekends, tours are available from 12:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Weddings and Gatherings at Topsmead State Forest

Visitors may picnic informally on the grounds, residence lawns included. Open fires or grills are not allowed.

Numerous trails and unpaved lanes are available for walking. In addition, the Edith M. Chase Ecology Trail offers a 7/10 mile walk with interpretive signs.

HOURS:

The forest recreation areas are open from 8 am to sunset. Gates open at 8 am, and close at sunset all year round.

PETS:

Pets on a leash are permitted in picnic areas and on hiking trails.
