Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Connecticut's Electronic Recycling Law
E-Waste Regulations External Advisory Group

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (Department) formed an external workgroup to provide advice and guidance to the Department in developing regulations to implement Connecticut’s E-waste recycling law. The advisory workgroup consisted of representatives from the manufacturing and electronic recycling industry, trade associations, local government, and resource recovery authorities. The workgroup met through a series of conference calls between October 2007 and January 2008 with a final in person meeting on January 14, 2008 at ConnDOT, 2800 Berlin Turnpike in Newington, CT.

The areas of focus for the six conference calls (schedule listed below) included: (1) process for registering recyclers, (2) qualified costs for recyclers (3) standards for recyclers, (4) additional items to be included in the law (currently includes televisions, monitors and computers), (5) establishing reasonable fees to administer the program and, (6) discussions of other ideas/regulations which would facilitate implementation of the law.
