The Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) hereby gives notice of an informational public hearing concerning the reissuance of a general permit for point source discharges to waters of the state from the application of pesticides.

: DEEP issued a notice of tentative determination to reissue a general permit for point source discharges from the application of biological or chemical pesticides to waters of the state that leave a residue. The purpose of the general permit is to protect waters of the state from discharges associated with the application of pesticides to deal with insects, weeds, algae, animals or other pests. Permittees are required to comply with all permit terms and conditions which include effluent limits and best management practices established to protect the waters of the state.

NOTICE OF INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING

DEEP will hold an informational public hearing to receive public comments on the general permit on July 16, 2024 at 6:30 PM via Zoom, an electronic meeting platform. The hearing to receive public comments will consist of an informational presentation by DEEP staff and the collection of public comment. 

Written comments will be accepted at the informational public hearing and until the close of business on July 23, 2024.  Written comments may be submitted by email to Deep.Adjudications@ct.gov or by mail at the Office of Adjudications, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, 79 Elm Street Hartford, Connecticut 06106.
