Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. DEEP will conduct a site visit on August 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM meeting at 61 Sunset Beach Road in Branford.  DEEP will hold a public hearing on this application on September 25, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the Branford Fire House, located at 45 North Main Street in Branford, with the doors opening at 5:30 PM.  The public hearing will consist of informational presentations by the parties and collection of public comment on the record.  Written comments will be accepted at the public hearing and until the close of business on October 4, 2019.  Written comments may be submitted by mail to Brendan Schain, Hearing Officer, Office of Adjudications, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, 79 Elm Street, Hartford, Connecticut 06106 or by e-mail to Brendan.Schain@ct.gov
