Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Land Trusts

Land Trusts are private, non-profit organizations dedicated to land conservation. Land trusts protect natural areas and open space in their local communities. In Connecticut, there are 115 land trusts with more than 39,000 members. Together they protect over 62,000 acres of valuable open space.

Connecticut Land Conservation Council (CLCC) - a coalition of land trusts, statewide conservation and advocacy organizations, town conservation and open space commissions, garden clubs and private individuals working together for the common interests of Connecticut's conservation community, CLCC supports Connecticut's conservation community by:

  • Providing technical assistance and referrals for land trusts and other organizations on Connecticut-specific conservation topics
  • Hosting a new and improved website to increase communications with the membership of CLCC
    Sponsoring training and education, including the CLCC Annual Conference
  • Being a voice and advocate for your organization and at the capitol
  • Being your source of conservation news and activity
  • Creating a venue for brining forward issues of importance to other conservation groups

Land Trust Alliance (LTA) - a national organization that promotes voluntary private land conservation to benefit communities and natural systems.
