Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

Wildfire Reporting

For an Active Wildfire:

Remain calm, call 911 to report the fire as quickly as possible to your local fire department. Tell the emergency dispatcher when you saw it and where you saw it. If you see anything suspicious at or near the scene of the fire, take note and relay that to 911 as well. Stay on the phone until the dispatcher tells you to hang up

For Immediate Wildfire Suppression Assistance:

Call DEEP's 24-hour Dispatch Center at 860-424-3333

Find Out Where Recent Wildfires Have Been Reported in Connecticut

The Wildland Fire Reporting System is meant to assist the DEEP Division of Forestry in improving the accuracy of Connecticut’s wildland fire statistics. These statistics are required by the U.S. Forest Service annually, and help determine federal funding allocations for our program. This information will also be used to inform Forest Fire Control Officers to help better assist the department.

Please report ANY outside fires. This can include small grass fires that occurred due to power lines, roadside burns, escaped debris fires, or larger size fires.

Contact the Division of Forestry with any questions at deep.forestry@ct.gov or 860-424-3630.
