Lead Planning Efforts

On October 15, 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revised the primary and secondary national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for airborne lead (Pb) to 0.15 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3).  On October 6, 2009, the State of Connecticut requested to EPA that the entire State be designated as attainment for the revised Lead NAAQS.  Pursuant to Clean Air Act (CAA) sections 110(a)(l) and 110(a)(2), all states were required to submit plans demonstrating they have the requisite legal authority to provide for the implementation, maintenance and enforcement of the revised NAAQS (Infrastructure SIP).  On October 14, 2011, DEEP submitted the Infrastructure SIP to EPA for approval.
