Current and Forecasted Air Quality

DEEP maintains 14 air monitoring stations, which report data to EPA AirNow on an hourly basis. Data from AirNow can be viewed live on the AirNow Interactive Map of Air Quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Hartford, CT can be viewed in the widget to the right.

Additionally, DEEP makes daily forecasts to help the public plan their day. These forecasts predict the ozone and particulate levels for cities and towns around the state. Ozone forecasts are limited to the summer season between May 1st to September 30th because ozone formation is linked to hot, sunny summer weather. Links to historical ozone data and health effects can be found on our Air Quality and Health web page.

Below is an interactive map showing current and forecasted air quality. By default, the map displays the latest ozone and PM2.5 combined hourly AQI from the 14 DEEP air monitoring sites in Connecticut, in addition to the EPA's CASTNet site in Pomfret.

To toggle additional layers, click the layers icon A screenshot of the layers icon in an ArcGIS Online Web App in the top right corner of the map. The legend icon A screenshot of the legend icon in an ArcGIS Online Web App defines the thresholds for AQI values. You can also toggle visibility on layers for both today's AQI forecast and tomorrow's AQI forecast.
