HARTFORD — The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Food, Standards and Product Safety Division (DCP) and the Department of Public Health are warning the public that Portuguese Rolls and Old Fashion Italian Bread manufactured at International Bakery of Waterbury have been voluntarily recalled because they may contain undeclared soy allergens, which can cause serious illness for people who are allergic or sensitive to soy.
The affected products are:
- 13-ounce (368 gram) (UPC 5713100401) packages of Portuguese Rolls
- 22-ounce (624 gram) (UPC 5713100400) packages of Old Fashion Italian Bread.
The bread products were distributed at the following locations:
- Stop & Shop Supermarket
- 410 Reidville Drive, Waterbury, CT 06705
- 240 Chase Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06705
- 727 Rubber Avenue, Naugatuck, CT 06779
- Adam’s IGA
- 1167 Main Street, Watertown, CT 06795
- Watertown Meat Center
- 485 Main Street, Watertown, CT 06795
The products are packaged in clear bags with the International Bakery logo on the front and sold prior to May 8, 2025.
No illnesses have been reported to DCP or DPH in connection with this incident.
Consumers who have soy allergies should dispose of the products or return affected products to International Bakery at 998 Baldwin St, Waterbury, CT 06706, for a full refund.
