HARTFORD — The Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division is reminding the public that on Thanksgiving Day, this Thursday, November 27:
- Package stores will be closed.
- Grocery stores cannot sell beer.
- Manufacturers, such as breweries, cannot sell alcohol for off-premise consumption.
- To-go drinks from restaurants are prohibited.
Hours for on-premise alcohol sales, licensed cannabis establishments, sports betting retail locations and online gaming are not affected by the holiday. Local zoning rules may be stricter, and stores may opt to close, so check with your local establishments to confirm their holiday hours.
“We don’t make the laws, but we definitely enforce them,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli. “The laws haven’t changed this year: all off-premise alcohol sales are prohibited on Thanksgiving Day. No matter how you choose to celebrate — or under what influence — you should do so responsibly. Keep track of what you consume, set limits on your gaming apps, and designate a safe driver.”
Anyone with concerns or complaints about a liquor permittee in the State of Connecticut is encouraged to contact DCP’s Liquor Control Division via email at dcp.liquorcontrol@ct.gov, or at (860) 713-6210.
Adults who choose to consume cannabis are reminded to do so responsibly, including storing cannabis products in their original packaging, locked up and out of reach of children and pets.
