HARTFORD — The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is advising consumers affected by the bankruptcy filing of NewPro Operating LLC and its parent company Renovo Home Partners to file a complaint if they have unfinished home improvement projects.
NewPro Operating LLC, a Massachusetts-based remodeling company, has an active Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration with DCP and often advertised window and siding services in Connecticut. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on November 3, 2025.
Impacted Connecticut homeowners should:
- File with the Federal Bankruptcy Court: Consumers should file as a creditor with the Federal Bankruptcy Court first. Creditors should file a Proof of Claim form by the deadline or “bar date” provided in the bankruptcy notice. If no date is given, creditors should submit their form within 70 days of the bankruptcy filing. Once the bankruptcy is finalized, consumers listed as creditors may be eligible for payment through the Home Improvement Guaranty Fund. To learn more about the Home Improvement Guaranty Fund or to submit a claim, visit our Home Improvement Guaranty Fund page at ct.gov/DCP.
- File a complaint with DCP:Consumers may file a complaint through our online portal at eLicense.ct.gov or send an email to DCP.Investigations@ct.gov. For detailed instructions to submit an online complaint to our agency, visit our File a Complaint page at ct.gov/DCP.
“Home improvement projects are costly, stressful, and in this case, unpredictable,” said DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli. “Homeowners who follow the right steps of hiring a registered contractor and signing a contract should not be penalized. Consumers who paid a deposit to NewPro and have an incomplete home improvement project are encouraged to file a complaint with Federal Bankruptcy Court and our agency.”
