Mold Remediation work performed under the Home Improvement Contractor registration applies only to residential properties.
Mold Remediation is the removal, cleaning, sanitizing, demolition, or other treatment of mold or mold-contaminated matter in a building.
Mold means any form of fungi that grows in the form of multicellular filaments known as hyphae and reproduces by way of small spores.
Certification from one the following programs is required:
- NORMI – National Organization of Remediator and Microbial Inspectors
- IICRC – Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification
Application Information: If you already have an active Home Improvement Contractor Registration and would like to apply for Mold Remediation services, go to the Department’s online website at www.elicense.ct.gov. You must be logged into your online account using your User ID and Password. Once logged in: 1) Select “License Maintenance.” 2) Select “Start” next to the registration number you are trying to update. Note: More than one license/registration may appear if the account is associated with multiple credentials. 3) Select “Update Mold Remediator.” 4) Answer the questions related to Mold Remediator, then click “Next”. 5) You will have a chance to review your selection. Select “Finish”. If you do not currently have an active Home Improvement Contractor Registration and would like to apply, please click Home Improvement Contractor.
