Occupational Trainee License Types

This occupational trainee license program is utilized for license types that do not have an established apprenticeship program available through the Connecticut Department of Labor. 

The program is for an individual who is employed by a company that has a Department approved trainee program and who is supervised by an individual that is properly licensed in Connecticut for the related scope of work.

Upon completion of the program, the individual would apply for exam approval for one of the following trainee license types:

Electrical trainee:                        C-8

Heating and Cooling trainees:    G-2, G-8, MT-2, VT-2, HPG-2, PP-2, SM-6, OE-2                  

Elevator trainees:                        R-8, R-10         

Plumbing trainees:                      SP-2, SPB

Well drilling trainees:                   W-4, W-8
