Residential Sprinkler Licenses
License Types- F5 - Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Contractor License
- F6 - Limited Multipurpose Residential Sprinkler Journeyperson License
The following documentation is required for approval for the F-6 license exam:
- Copy of your current P-2 Unlimited Journeyperson license
- Original certificate from NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association) – “One and Two Family Dwellings – Multipurpose Residential”
Go to www.nfsa.org and click “Training”
- Pipe manufacturer certificate in the applicant’s name for a type of piping that is approved for use in a residential fire sprinkler systems.
The following documentation is required for the approval of the F-5 license exam:
- Copy of your F-6 license that you have held for a minimum of two years and is in good standing.
OR THE FOLLOWING THREE DOCUMENTS: - Copy of your P-1 Unlimited Contractor license
- Original certificate from NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association) – “One and Two Family Dwellings – Multipurpose Residential”

NOTE: For the CT F-5 Limited Multipurpose Residential Exam, you only need to pass the trade portion.
