What is the Connecticut surcharge law?

The surcharge law prevents businesses from collecting any fee or charge that increases the total amount of the transaction if that fee or charge is imposed as a result of the method of payment used. Often times this happens when consumers attempt to use credit cards. The surcharge law can be found at Connecticut General Statutes § 42-133ff as amended by Sec. 28 of Public Act 24-142.
