Hiring a Tax Professional
Tax season can be an overwhelming time for consumers. To help the process, we encourage consumers to start early, hire a licensed professional, and ask questions before they sign.
The Department of Consumer Protection oversees the State Board of Accountancy which offers licensure and training to Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). To practice in Connecticut, CPAs must hold an active license with DCP. For accounting firms, including home offices, they must hold DCP's Certified Public Accountancy Firm Permit.
