Pharmacist License for Foreign Graduates Instructions
Graduates of Foreign Pharmacy Schools Applying for Licensure as a Pharmacist
- INSTRUCTIONS -
These instructions accompany license application form CPPCI-01 "Application as a Pharmacy Intern" and CPPCT-01 “Application for Licensure as a Pharmacist by Examination”
The State of Connecticut requires you to obtain a passing score on several separate exams before you may apply for a pharmacy internship and subsequently, licensure as a pharmacist by examination. More specifically, you must pass:
1. the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) AND the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and Test of Spoken English (TSE)
OR
2. the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of Spoken English Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT).
The Connecticut Commission of Pharmacy does not administer these exams.
Taking the FPGEE Exam:
To apply for the FPGEE Exam, you may contact the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination Committee to obtain a registration package by completing an Internet-based request form available at www.nabp.pharmacy

Taking the TOEFL, TOEFL iBT and TSE Exams:
To apply for the TOEFL, TOEFL iBT and TSE Exams, please contact TOEFL Services by phone at (609) 771-7100 or online at www.toefl.org.
Once you obtain a passing score on either the FPGEE, TOEFL and TSE OR the FPGEE and TOEFL iBT, an appearance before the Commission of Pharmacy is necessary prior to application as a pharmacy intern. Please contact the Commission of Pharmacy via e-mail at DCP.PharmacistLicense@ct.gov or via phone at (860) 713-6070 to schedule an interview. At the interview, you will be required to submit documentation that you obtained passing scores on either the FPGEE, TOEFL and TSE OR the FPGEE and TOEFL iBT.
