Welcome to the Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia/Milford.

The Ansonia-Milford Judicial District serves nine towns with about 230,000 residents in the southern part of Connecticut. The State's Attorney's office is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal offenses which occur in the Judicial District, which includes the communities of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Milford, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton and West Haven.

The Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia/Milford office located at Milford Superior Court prosecutes the more serious cases, mostly those crimes classified under state law as class A or class B felony offenses, from all communities in the Judicial District.

The Geographical Area offices, located at the "Part B" Superior Court in Derby and Milford, primarily prosecute cases involving crimes classified under state law as class C, class D or class E felony offenses as well as all misdemeanor offenses and infractions, including motor vehicle offenses.

States Attorney Margaret E Kelley

State’s Attorney Margaret E. Kelley was appointed by the Criminal Justice Commission as the Ansonia/Milford State’s Attorney on September 26, 2018. State’s Attorney Kelley currently serves as the chief law enforcement officer in the Judicial District of Ansonia/Milford, which includes Milford, Ansonia and seven surrounding communities.

State’s Attorney Kelley joined the Division of Criminal Justice in 1987 as a prosecutor in the Statewide Prosecution Bureau in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. She moved to the Geographical Area Court in Bridgeport in the Fairfield Judicial District in 1992 where she served until 2001. From 2001 until 2015, State’s Attorney Kelley handled numerous felony cases, including two death penalty trials, while serving at the Fairfield Judicial District. She was promoted in 2015 to Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney at the Geographical Area Court in Bridgeport and served there until she was appointed Ansonia/Milford State’s Attorney.

State’s Attorney Kelley serves on the Training and Operations Committees for the Division and serves on the Executive Committee of the Ansonia/Milford Multidisciplinary Team.

State’s Attorney Kelley earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Social Work from the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Western New England School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts.
