DEPUTY CHIEF STATE’S ATTORNEY FOR OPERATIONS
Applications are being accepted for the position of Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Operations for the Division of Criminal Justice (Division). The successful applicant shall hold office from date of appointment to June 30, 2029, and thereafter be subject to appointment to a four (4) year term. The annual salary is $219,800. The Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Operations assists the Chief State’s Attorney in the administration of the Division by providing advice and legal counsel on investigative and prosecutive matters. The Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Operations directly supervises the bureaus assigned to the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office, including the Appellate and Civil Litigation Bureaus, the Statewide Prosecution Bureau, the Cold Case Bureau, and government program fraud bureaus. In addition, the Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Operations assists the State’s Attorneys in investigations and prosecutions as needed.
The position requires significant experience in the prosecution of major crimes and the investigation of complex and sensitive matters. Experience in handling criminal appeals and other post-conviction litigation is strongly preferred. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate must be an attorney-at-law and shall have been admitted to the practice of law and admitted to the Connecticut Bar for at least three years; residency in the State of Connecticut is a prerequisite to appointment. The Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Operations shall devote their full time to the duties of his office and shall not otherwise engage in the practice of law and shall not be a partner, member or associate of a law firm.
