As an employee of a long-term care facility, do I have to get vaccinated against COVID-19?
If you work at a long-term care facility, you'll have to be vaccinated as part of Governor Lamont's effort to protect Connecticut's most vulnerable residents. To help make long-term care facilities safer, an executive order has been issued requiring employees of all long-term care facilities to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The order requires staff to receive their first dose of vaccine by September 27, 2021. Care facilities failing to comply with the order will be subject to a $20,000 per day civil penalty.
Types of care facilities covered by this order include:
- Nursing homes
- Residential care homes
- Agencies that provide staff to certain types of long-term care facilities
- Intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Managed residential communities
- Hospitals for chronic diseases
