CONNECTICUT INSURANCE COMMISSIONER ANDREW N. MAIS OF WILTON ELECTED AS
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INSURANCE COMMISSIONER’S PRESIDENT-ELECT
Connecticut Insurance Department Commissioner Andrew N. Mais has been elected to serve as President-Elect of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). Commissioner Mais will assume his additional duties with the NAIC beginning January 1, 2023.
“I am proud to be selected by my colleagues at the NAIC to serve as President-Elect and member of the Executive Committee. The NAIC is a broad, inclusive group working in the public’s interest in a collaborative spirit that time and again leads to a gold standard of excellence in insurance matters,” Commissioner Mais said. “This new role is good for the state and for Connecticut consumers and would not have been possible without knowing I am supported in Connecticut by the best staff there is.”
Andrew Mais currently serves on the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s International Relations, Property & Casualty, and Financial Regulation Standards committees. He also serves on the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Macroprudential and Executive Committees. The IAIS is the international standard-setting body responsible for developing and assisting in the supervision of the insurance sector. Mais is also Co-Vice Chair of the NAIC’s Special Executive Committee on Race and Insurance, charged with conducting research and analyzing issues of diversity and inclusion within the insurance sector.
Mais has previously served as chair of the Council on Ethics for the town of Wilton, CT, where he lives. Other community service includes the Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk; the American Red Cross; the Board of Finance of the Town of Wilton; and the Rotary Club of Wilton.
