UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE NEW COVID-19 VACCINE

As updated COVID-19 vaccines become available this fall, it's important to understand what your insurance will cover. Here's what you need to know:

Check with Your Insurance Provider: Each insurance plan may have different coverage options for vaccines. Many commercial insurers in Connecticut provide coverage for COVID-19 vaccines, but some may not. It's important that you contact your individual carrier to confirm whether COVID-19 vaccinations are covered under your specific plan.

Major Connecticut Insurance Providers' COVID-19 Resources: For more detailed information on vaccine coverage, you can visit the dedicated COVID-19 resource pages of major insurers in Connecticut:

Free COVID-19 Tests: Starting in late September, the federal government will reopen its Covidtests.gov website, allowing each household to order up to four free at-home tests delivered by mail. Additional free tests will be available at community sites such as libraries and food banks.

Getting Vaccinated: Updated vaccines for COVID-19, as well as flu shots, will be available at pharmacies within weeks. As a reminder, it is safe  to receive both the COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same time. Be sure to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider or pharmacy.

For any additional questions about coverage or available resources, reach out to your health insurance carrier or plan administrator. Making sure you have health insurance is the first step and confirming that your benefits include coverage for specific vaccinations is the next. This will help you avoid any unexpected costs
