On May 1, 2024 at 9:30 AM, the CHRO, in partnership with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, held the 2024 Community Access and Equity Fair at the Connecticut State Armory, located at 360 Broad Street in Hartford, CT 06105.

The Access Fair featured a number of great panels, and a large turnout from community and state organizations all dedicated to making their services equitable, inclusive, and accessible to the public.

The CHRO extends its heartfelt thanks to all of our community and state partners that participated in the fair. You can see some of them on our Facebook page!

The purpose of the Access Fair is to present the findings and recommendations of the statewide Equity Study—which examined programs and policies across 23 state agencies to identify inequalities in the outcomes for underserved communities, and made recommendations for improvements.

One of the most important lessons from the Equity Study is that, even when state agencies make their best efforts, they often struggle to make connections with the populations in our state that can need the most help of government programs.

The CHRO hosted the Access Fair to expand access to state services. Many state agencies and non-profit organizations were in attendance at the Access Fair and set up booths so that the public had an opportunity to connect directly with them to explore and utilize the services they offer. The Access Fair also hosted a series of panels regarding state services, trainings, and more.

To facilitate participation by underserved communities, the CHRO provided free bus transportation to and from the event in various cities around the state and provided free lunch to attendees. Thank you for coming and making your voices heard!
