FEMA COOP Connecticut Workshop - WEDNESDAY, April 8

Dear Fire Service Responder and Partner Organizations:

FEMA Region I; Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DESPP/DEMHS) and Commission on Fire Prevention and Control; and the Christian Regenhard Center for Emergency Response Studies (RaCERS) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) invite you to attend a fire service Continuity of Operations (COOP) Tabletop Exercise (TTX) for Connecticut Fire Services and supporting agencies.

The TTX will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the New Haven Regional Fire Training Academy, 230 Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven, CT.  Light refreshments will be available.

As a senior leader directly responsible for overseeing effective COOP/Continuity of
Government protocols for your agency, you are encouraged to extend this invitation to three or four of your internal and/or external partners with a stake in your program.

The half-day Continuity of Operations TTX for Fire Service Responders is focused on the ability to maintain core services and leadership to the community during the first hours of a disaster response and into the short-term recovery phase by having a strong, well thought out continuity plan. The exercise has been designed to highlight the critical role that Continuity of Operations has in today’s emergency management field among fire services and community leaders.

By drawing from Lessons Learned and Best Practices, agencies will be better equipped to identify their Mission Essential Functions and ensure those functions can be continued throughout the life cycle of a deliberate or naturally-occurring disruption to normal operations.

To register online, go to:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/continuity-of-operations-tabletop-exercise-for-connecticut-area-fire-services-fema-region-i-tickets-15797896935?ref=estw or complete the enclosed registration form and submit to Andrea Fatica via the e-mail (afatica@jjay.cuny.edu). Ms. Fatica can be reached by phone at 718-530-5900 if you have any questions.

We look forward to hearing from you by April 1, 2015.

Sincerely yours,

The planning committee
