Evaluation of Professional Learning Masterclass on Science of Reading

This study will evaluate the Science of Reading Masterclass professional development initiative by collecting data on participant experience as well as the experience of district non-participants who may have benefited from implementation. This evaluation will gather and analyze district reading plans, artifacts from the Masterclass, and existing participant surveys, as well as collect and analyze new quantitative and qualitative data including school-based data. This project is not meant to evaluate the philosophy of the Science of Reading nor inspect whether districts are implementing with fidelity, but rather is an evaluation of the professional development offered by the state, and whether it has had the intended effect.
