Diseases caused by Fungi:

Leaf spots.
Leaf spots commonly found on mockorange may generally be controlled by cleaning up diseased leaves and twigs and removing them.

Insect Problems:

Aphids, Aphis fabae and Myzus persicae.
The bean aphid and the green peach aphid sometimes infest the tender shoots. Among the compounds registered for control of these aphids in Connecticut are insecticidal soap and ultrafine horticultural oil, which can be applied as sprays, or imidacloprid, applied as a systemic to be taken up by the roots. Consult the label for dosage rates and safety precautions.

Leaf miner, Agromyza melampyga.
The larva of this fly at first makes a curved linear mine in the leaf, but later the end of the mine near the leaf tip expands into a blotch an inch or less in length and half as wide. Among the compounds registered for control of this pest in Connecticut are imidacloprid, which can be applied as a soil treatment. Abamectin is an effective restricted use product.
