Dooley Pond, Middletown - 2015
Dooley Pond, Middletown

Dooley Pond is an 18.5-acre waterbody located in Middletown, Connecticut. The pond was first surveyed in 2004 and was noticeably species poor. Only five species were found with Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) and curlyleaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) being invasive. The dam created to fill the pond was under construction in 2014 and 2015, so the pond was severely drawn down with a maximum depth of 3.2 meters. This exposure of the pond bottom likely hindered the growth of aquatic plants.

The CAES IAPP 2015 survey found four species in relatively low abundance. One invasive was found, Eurasian watermilfoil, in a small patch on the eastern shoreline as well as near the boat launch to the west. Other species present were snailseed pondweed (Potamogeton bicupulatus), small pondweed (Potamogeton pusillus), and arrowhead (Sagittaria species).
