Many older adults (65+) fear falling. As a result, they limit their activities and social life. This can result in:
- Decline in physical health
- Depression
- Social isolation
- Feelings of helplessness
To help reduce falls in older adults, the Bureau of Aging leads Falls Free CT, a falls prevention coalition. It also provides falls prevention programs to older adults across the state.
This coalition aims to unite champions of falls prevention. They seek to reduce falls among older adults, educate the public on prevention, and share resources and best practices.
Falls Free CT is a partnership with the Department of Public Health's Office of Injury and Violence Prevention. The Bureau of Aging’s falls prevention program is guided by Connecticut General Statute 17a-859.
