Attorney General’s Statement On Second Circuit Ruling On No Child Left Behind

July 13, 2010

“The Second Circuit has declined to rule on the merits of our lawsuit -- but enables us to continue our fight to uphold the No Child Left Behind Act and its critical goals in the courts or legislatively.

“My office is reviewing this decision to determine the next best step to ensure that the federal government fulfills its promise under the law to provide all of our children a fair, equal and quality education.

“Our key goal remains: hold the federal government to its promise and obligation to provide Connecticut sufficient funding or other means to comply with the No Child Left Behind Act. The law requires full federal funding and we are determined to fight for it -- a necessity in our battle to close achievement gaps and increase accountability.”
