Attorney General's Statement On Congressional Delegation Calling On FERC To Investigate His Complaint About Wrongdoing To CT Electricity Consumers

July 13, 2009

"My office is continuing our investigation into possible anticompetitive practices that may drive up costs and drive out competition in our electricity market.

"I am pleased that our congressional delegation is backing our fight -- calling on FERC to respond to my call for an aggressive, public and transparent investigation into allegations that ISO New England paid power plants more than $50 million over two years to provide electricity that they failed to deliver. Consumers deserve to know every detail about these payments, and other practices that may persist out of public view.

"This move by our congressional delegation -- establishing a strong federal-state partnership -- should compel FERC to take our complaints seriously and provide the scrutiny that these outrageous payments deserve."
