Attorney General To Seek DPUC Investigation Of Missing CL&P Customer Payments
February 26, 2009
"I will seek an immediate DPUC investigation of missing payments for CL&P bills and fight to assure consumers suffer no penalty or harm," Blumenthal said. "The state must establish as soon as possible how many consumers are affected, how much money is missing and why this oversight happened. These missing payments reinforce and renew my concerns about CL&P's customer service -- coming in the wake of the company's mishandling of billing errors and meter complaints.
"CL&P customers should check their bank statements to assure their checks were cashed. If they were not, they should contact CL&P to confirm their payment is missing and cancel their check if it is. CL&P has agreed to pay consumers whose payments were lost $30 each to cover the cost of a canceled check."
