Volunteer with the new Interpreting Standards Board!

Please note - to ensure the best opportunity for the community to be part of the application process, the deadline has been extended until October 27th 11:59pm.

Do you have lived experience as a consumer or professional in Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, or interpreting communities? Do you care deeply about access and equity in interpreting services? If so, please consider sharing your talents with us!

The Interpreting Standards Board will set education, training, and certification requirements for interpreters in Connecticut. They will also review and refer complaints about interpreters who are not complying with state standards.

Step 1: To see if you qualify, complete the Interpreting Standards Board Application by 11:59 PM on October 27th.

Step 2: Qualified applicants will then be invited to submit a letter of interest and a résumé. Priority will be given to qualified candidates who also reflect the state’s diverse regions and backgrounds.

Step 3: If selected, board members will be appointed to serve a term of 2-3 years. Meetings will be held at least quarterly but possibly more often. Although board members are unpaid volunteers, this rewarding experience will help expand communication access statewide!

Connecticut Aging and Disability Services is committed to an open and inclusive selection process and welcomes applications from the public-at-large.

We hope to hear from you soon!
