Prize Donors Wanted for DMV-Sponsored
Teen Safe Driving Video
The Department of Motor Vehicles’ Center for Teen Safe Driving plans to conduct acontest for high school students to create a 27-second video commercial on teen safe driving. The commercial will be offered to television stations in Connecticut as a public service announcement. The contest will be open to all public, private and home-schooled high school students in grades 9 through 12. The contest will be announced in late October 2008 with submissions required by late December 2008 and final judging complete in early February 2009.
The DMV would like to offer a monetary prize to the high schools of the top three winning students. The prizes would come with the stipulation that the money must be used for a teen safe-driving educational program to benefit students in the winning student’s (s) high school or a nearby high school in the instance of someone home-schooled. The prizes would be awarded directly to the schools or another recipient that the DMV deems qualified to fulfill the stipulation for using the prize and is willing to accept the prize. The prizes are for $2,500 for first; $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third.
The DMV is seeking offers from organizations or individuals that would like to provide these cash prizes and participate as a partner with DMV in this contest. The organization or individual selected as a partner will pay these cash prizes directly to the winning high school or another recipient that the DMV deems qualified to fulfill the stipulation for using the prize and is willing to accept the prize.
Offers of prizes must either be in the full amount for one of the categories (first, second or third) for the full amount of all prizes. DMV reserves the right to select various partners or one partner. Any organization or individual regulated by the DMV is prohibited from participating. Any organization or individual with a DMV employee having a corporate interest is also prohibited from participating.
Selection will be based on ability to provide the full amount of the cash prize, suitability as a prize partner and the overall mission and goals of the organization or individual as related to safe driving.
Organizations or individuals wanting to be considered as a prize partner should write to william.seymour@ct.gov, explaining the value of the prize they wish to contribute along with an explanation of the organization’s or individual’s mission and goals that relate to teen safety driving. A name, address and contact number must also be provided. The DMV reserves the right to reject any and all submissions based on suitability. The deadline for submissions as prize partners is October 3, 2008.
