What to Know What to Do

  • Each year, about 168,000 children go the emergency room for injuries from toys. With so many toys on the market, it’s not always easy to be sure that the toys you buy are safe
  • The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is responsible for the safety of toys in the United States. Any toys made here after 1995 must be in line with CPSC standards. The same rules apply for toys imported into the United States.
  • The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection routinely checks toys in stores across the state to see that they are safe. If unsafe toys are found, we remove them from the stores.
