Important Election Day Information

(HARTFORD) – The following information will likely be useful to you, or to your viewers and readers.

The polls will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registered voters who are in line at 8:00 p.m. will be able to vote and should stay in line. Voters can locate their polling places at myvote.ct.gov/lookup.

As a reminder, Connecticut has Election Day Registration (EDR). Eligible voters can register to vote on Election Day. Voters will register to vote and cast their vote in the EDR location in their town. EDR locations are available at myvote.ct.gov/edr and more information on EDR can be found at myvote.ct.gov/EDRinfo. As at a polling place, eligible voters who are in line at their EDR location at 8:00 p.m. will be able to register and vote – they should stay in line.

The Office of the Secretary of the State and the State Election Enforcement Commission jointly run an Election Day hotline. If voters encounter any problems at the polling place, they should contact the hotline at 866-733-2463 (866-SEEC-INFO) or elections@ct.gov.

The final numbers of active voters registered by party are as follows (in order that they are listed on the ballot, if applicable):

The final pre-election breakdown of absentee ballots requested and returned is attached. Based on the number of registered voters and the number of absentee ballots returned, voter turnout is roughly 5.5% heading into Election Day.

The complete town-by-town voter registration numbers will be available here shortly: https://portal.ct.gov/SOTS/Election-Services/Statistics-and-Data/Statistics-and-Data

Secretary of the State Mark Kohler will have the following public schedule on Election Day, including media availabilities at 7:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.:

  • 7:00 a.m.: Voting followed by media availability at Ridge Road Elementary School, 1341 Ridge Road, North Haven
  • 12:00 p.m.: Media availability at E.B. Kennelly School, 180 White Street, Hartford. Availability will be at polling location, which is on Monroe Street, near the playground
  • 6:00 p.m.: Media availability at the Secretary of the State’s office at the Capitol

Results for the public will be available at https://ctemspublic.pcctg.net/, please feel free to share this link with your readers and viewers.

Results will be available for the media at https://ctemsmedia.pcctg.net/. These are the exact same results but using this site will help us to manage the load on the website on election night. An access code is required to access the media site – the access code that you have used in previous years will work. If you do not have one or forgot yours, please reply to this email and I will send you one!

Media are allowed in the polling place, so long as no disturbance is created, and you do not capture or record any voter’s ballot. I have attached a memo to this email that you can show at the polling place if there are any questions about your presence, and please feel free to reach me on my cell phone if you need to do so.

The Election Management System (EMS) will display results for all races for elected office, but the regularly updated results of the Early Voting statewide ballot question will be on our website https://portal.ct.gov/sots. The vote tallies will be displayed directly on the homepage.

Results for all municipal ballot questions and town-by-town breakdowns of the statewide question can be found by running a report for the jurisdiction on EMS. These tallies will reflect the most up-to-date vote counts but will not appear “live” on the user interface.
