Secretary Thomas Speaks with Bacon Academy Students About Civic Engagement and Public Service
(Colchester, CT) – Today, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas spoke with high school students at Bacon Academy in Colchester about how they can get involved in their community.
“When I look for change agents in this world, I immediately look to young people like you all,” Thomas said. “I hope you know and never forget the power you hold as our next generation of leaders is limitless. You have a great responsibility to own your power and engage in your communities to make them a better place for all of us.”
After speaking, Thomas took questions from the students, answering on a variety of topics, including expanding voting rights, her college experience, overcoming personal fears, her decision to enter public service, and the importance of giving back.
