Governor Lamont Announces Flags Lowered To Half-Staff In Remembrance of the Victims of the Mass Shooting in San Jose

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that – in accordance with a proclamation from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. directing flags lowered throughout the country as a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the mass shooting this morning in San Jose, California – he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

“Our country is mourning yet another senseless act of mass gun violence, prolonging this epidemic that has plagued the United States for far too long and has cost the lives of far too many,” Governor Lamont said. “We’ve been too complacent. We need Congress to take action because thoughts and prayers are not stopping mass murder.”
