(NEW HAVEN, CT) – Governor-elect Ned Lamont and Lieutenant Governor-elect Susan Bysiewicz today announced the 2019 inaugural events, including the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, to which the public is invited.

The ceremony will be held at the William A. O’Neill State Armory at 360 Broad Street in Hartford and is free and open to the public. Following the oath of office, Lamont will make brief comments about his vision for the State of Connecticut. Tickets are not necessary and seats are first come, first served. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. Guests are asked to arrive early and to refrain from bringing large bags in order to ensure smooth admittance through security protocols.

The state’s constitutional officers will also be sworn into office during the ceremony. Lt. Governor-elect Susan Bysiewicz will take the oath of office at a separate ceremony earlier that morning in the Senate chamber.

Directly following the inauguration ceremony, the inauguration parade will step off at the Armory, turning east on Capitol Avenue, passing the historic State Capitol. The parade will then turn north on Trinity Street and come to a close at the intersection of Trinity Street and Elm Street. Guests attending the inauguration ceremony should plan for road closures in the areas surrounding the State Capitol and the State Armory.

Following the conclusion of the inauguration parade, Governor Lamont will deliver the State of the State address to a joint session of the General Assembly inside the Hall of the House of Representatives at the State Capitol.

The 2019 inaugural ball will be held at 7 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center. Tickets for general admission to the event are on sale now and can be purchased online here. Tickets for young professionals (ages 21 - 28) can be purchased here.

Mika Brzezinksi and Joe Scarborough, co-hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, will attend, and Scarborough and his band will perform. Christopher Meloni, a family friend of the Lamonts, will serve as emcee.

Information for the media on how to obtain press credentials to the inauguration ceremony and other technical details concerning filming, photographing and recording the event will be announced in the coming days.
