Sikorsky Aircraft will be honored next week for cutting its electricity and heating use by $8 million a year in its 2-million-square-foot complex in Stratford.
The Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships chose Sikorsky, and other 13 other companies, as business leaders for energy efficiency.
United Illuminating and Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund nominated the United Technologies Corp. division.
The company saved the energy by installing a natural gas-fired co-generation power plant, replaced traditional bulbs with LED lighting, added solar panels and improved manufacturing processes.
