New London, Conn. (AP) -- President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Connecticut this spring to deliver the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's graduation keynote address.
Academy officials announced Monday that the president will visit the New London campus for May 18 commencement ceremonies.
They say presidents traditionally address the graduating class at one of the federal service academies on a rotating basis, and that Obama addressed the U.S. Military Academy class at West Point, N.Y., last year.
Superintendent Rear Admiral Scott Burhoe says Obama's visit will be a momentous event for the academy and the Coast Guard's newest ensigns.
