New State Medical Postpartum Coverage

Overview

We are excited to announce the new State Medical Postpartum Coverage program which will provide 12 months of postpartum care to recently pregnant non-citizen individuals with household income under 264% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and who do not qualify for Medicaid due to immigration status (i.e., those who qualify for the HUSKY B – Prenatal Care group). Eligibility for this coverage is available beginning April 1, 2023.

Individuals who are already enrolled in HUSKY B Prenatal will not need to submit a new application for their postpartum benefits to begin.  DSS systems will automatically assess program eligibility for State Medical Postpartum Coverage when the end of pregnancy is reported. Individuals qualify if their pregnancy ended before April 1, 2023, but are still within their 12-month postpartum period. DSS will notify you if you qualify.  Eligible individuals will receive the same benefits as those provided under the HUSKY A program. Please click here for information on HUSKY Benefits.

If you have any other questions about your eligibility for coverage, please call Access Health CT at 1‐855‐805‐4325. If you are deaf or hearing impaired, you may use TTY at 1‐855‐789‐2428 or call with a relay operator.
