Connecticut Commissioner of Revenue Services Kevin Sullivan said today that previously announced plans to reduce services at regional offices in Bridgeport, Norwich and Waterbury are now on hold.  The Department of Revenue Services (DRS) regional offices primarily support sales tax administration but also offer general walk-in services to large numbers of taxpayers each year.  DRS had previously announced that general taxpayer services staffing at the three regional offices would be recalled to the central office in Hartford at the end of December.

Commissioner Sullivan explained that significantly reduced agency staffing in the next state budget might still require consolidation in order to assure statewide revenue collection capacity. Added Sullivan, “At this time, however, we will continue to offer the expected regional taxpayer services at least through the coming 2017 tax season.”

Commissioner Sullivan did note that taxpayers (individuals and businesses) can always get state tax information as well as file and pay all major state taxes on line at the DRS Taxpayer Service Center (TSC).
