NVEI Program

In November 2021, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, also referred to as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.  This bill apportioned up to $7.5 billion over five years for states to enhance and buildout their electric vehicle charging infrastructure.  There are two sources for federal funding under this program;


National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program ($5 billion): Provides funding to States to strategically deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructure and to establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability.

     Federal NEVI Program Announcements:


Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant (CFI) Program ($2.5 billion): Nationally competitive grant program to strategically deploy publicly accessible EV charging and alternative fueling infrastructure in urban, rural areas and additionally along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors. This program provides two funding categories of grants: (1) Community Charging and Fueling Grants (Community Program) and (2) Alternative Fuel Corridor Grants (Corridor Program).
