In the wake of Tropical Storm Henri CTDOT resumes regularly scheduled services for most public transportation

(Newington, CT) – Today, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the resumption of train and bus services following high winds and rain from Tropical Storm Henri which traveled through Connecticut on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

“Safely resuming train and bus service on Monday August 23 after such a major storm takes a momentous effort by our transportation partners throughout the state,” said Commissioner Joseph Giulietti, CTDOT. “I would like to thank them for their efforts and welcome customers onboard our buses and trains Monday morning.”

Please be aware that changing conditions may impact some services on Monday and be on the look out for service adjustments that may arise. It is recommended that passengers check operators’ websites before travel and sign up for service alerts.

CTtransit local and express bus, and CTfastrak will resume regularly scheduled service on Monday, August 23, 2021. Customers should continue to monitor CTtransit.com and plan for the potential of localized detours or delays depending on storm damage.

The New Haven Line, the New Canaan Line, and the Danbury Line will return to normal weekday train service. The Waterbury Line will return to the regularly scheduled temporary bus service. CTrail and the Amtrak Hartford Line will return to normal train service. For Shore Line East, the first westbound train to New Haven will not operate (6:17 a.m. New Haven arrival), but the rest of the regularly scheduled weekday trains will operate.

The Connecticut River ferry services at Rocky Hill-Glastonbury and Chester-Hadlyme will remain suspended due to high water.

To get all the latest train information, customers should visit the service websites at mta.info/mnr (Metro-North), HartfordLine.com, and ShoreLineEast.com.
